Full-Blooded Zen Flute by Cornelius Boots

November 14, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Samavesha presents

Full-Blooded Zen Flute by Cornelius Boots

As part of the Rose Labyrinth Series

Fringe woodwind virtuoso Cornelius Boots combines rock energy and classical artistry to create a lively and deep experience of the Zen shakuhachi flute from ancient Japan.  In addition to the Buddhist chant and nature hymns (honkyoku) created over hundreds of years in monasteries, Boots explores blues, gospel, rock, metal, theme music, and original compositions and is committed to the full-blooded exploration of this root-end bamboo flute.  The resulting performance encompasses a broad spectrum of energy and melody.  Some sounds are uplifting, soaring and ethereal, and some are turbulent, gritty and inexplicable.
